Clinical Notes:
- •The Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (VASI) quantifies the extent of depigmentation in vitiligo patients.
- •Each body region (Head and Neck, Upper Limb, Trunk, Hands, Lower Limb, Feet) is assessed for hand units affected and a pigmentation score.
- •Pigmentation scores range from 0.1 (10% specks) to 1 (100% depigmentation), reflecting the proportion of depigmented to pigmented areas.
- •The total VASI score is the sum of (hand units × pigmentation score) for all regions.
- •Hand units are a standardized measure based on the patient’s hand size, typically 1% of body surface area.
